BENIN (2025) 4TH ENHANCED FOLLOW UP REPORT
Benin's Mutual Evaluation Report (MER) was discussed and adopted by the 35th plenary meeting of the GIABA Technical Commission in May 2021. The country obtained 11 weak results with regard to the effectiveness of its AML/CFT system and more than eight (8) Recommendations rated NC/PC. As a result, in application of the GIABA processes and procedures for the second round of mutual evaluation (August 2020), Benin has been placed under an enhanced monitoring regime.
Benin obtained a reassessment of R.6 and R.7, which were all changed from PC to LC following the adoption of the 2nd FUR in May 2023. The country also obtained the reassessment of R.34 from PC to LC following the adoption of its 3rd FUR in May 2024. This FUR analyses the progress made by Benin in meeting the Technical Compliance requirements of Recommendations 4, 5, 10, 12, 19, 20, 22, 23, 26 and 32 under reassessment. A reassessment of Technical Compliance is granted when sufficient progress has been made.
